From our home on the Mornington Peninsula, Montalto’s meticulous vinification process has, to date, delivered an elegant variety of Sparkling wines demonstrating an array of complex and aromatic bouquets. Brut and Cuvée can be created from an assortment of grape varieties, depending on the region and the wine style. Montalto’s Sparkling wines are made from the three main traditional Champagne grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Our unique and distinctive blend has created our trademark Sparkling wines, each with diverse and distinguished qualities. Those looking for a white to celebrate with will not be disappointed by the magnificent variety of Montalto Sparkling Cuvée we have to offer.
Our Sparkling wines are sourced from our vineyards in cool-climate maritime locations across the Mornington Peninsula, including our home vineyard in Red Hill. Initially planted in 1986, it delivers vigorous vines and rich, fertile, moist soil. Montalto’s wine-making method for Sparkling involves a special technique called lees ageing, which adds an unprecedented level of complexity and depth to the Cuvée. The Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grape varieties are used in various combinations and intertwine together flawlessly to create individualistic and sublime aromatic profiles. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir elements are woven together on the palate through flavours such as citrus, strawberry, white peach and white florals, while the lees handling introduces new levels in depth with hints of barley, almond croissant, combined with bready fragrances. What’s left is a creamy yet piquant texture with naturally fresh acidity.
