Each course masterfully highlights the deep connection between our estate gardens (expertly managed by our Produce Manager Julie Bennett), our kitchens and our award-winning wines, inspired by our Culinary Creative Director, Matt Wilkinson.

All guests in The Restaurant dine on our 4-course sharing menu ($125 per person). This includes shared entrees, mains, sides, and dessert. Please note: a surcharge of 15% applies on public holidays.
This summer, The Restaurant will be open every day* from Thursday 28th December 2023 – Monday 15th January 2024. From Friday 19th January, we’ll be back to our normal Friday – Monday lunches. (*We’re closed on Wednesday 3rd January and Wednesday 10th January)
Every Saturday from Saturday 23rd December 2023 – Saturday 9th March 2024, The Restaurant will be open for a very special Twilight sitting from 5.30pm. Our beautiful seasonal set menu will be available for this sitting. Numbers are strictly limited, bookings essential.
For groups of 8 guests or more, we require a $20 (per person) deposit, payable at the time of booking. For group reservations, please contact our admin team anytime between 11am – 4pm, 7 days a week on 03 5989 8412.
The Restaurant is also a very popular events space. This means that sometimes The Restaurant is closed for a private event. This will always be reflected on our website. Learn more about holding an event at Montalto.
Children of any age are welcome to dine in The Restaurant at $49 per person. Please ensure you request a highchair and/or pram space at the time of booking.
Genuine garden-to-plate experience.
Few menus feature a note from a dedicated kitchen gardener rejoicing in the romance of winer pruning. But few restaurants operate like this one, where you can play “match the produce to the plate” as you stroll through the garden. Here are the Brussels sprouts you forked from a verdant knoll of chilli-spiked pumpkin seed cream; there are the charred carrots that added bite to shell-shaped conchiglie.
Children tumble on the lawn in front of the restaurant, which overlooks an undulating sculpture garden and vines that provide some of the grapes in the affordable house wine pairing. But you’re likely to find something more memorable on the special by-the-glass list, whether from Burgundy or Beechworth.
Pace yourself ahead of wood-smoked beef rump cap, its rendered fat balanced by the pepperiness of romesco, but say “yes” to the dash of rum offered alongside steamed ginger pudding with cooling peach-pit ice-cream.
