Rosé is a variety of wine made from various red grapes but with a unique method of vinification that gives it its blush hue. The resulting wine has a lighter colour and a more delicate flavour from the red varietal, which still locks in the succulent selection of tannins and complexities. The vinification process for Rosé involves crushing the red grapes but allowing the juice to macerate with the skins for a short time, typically a few hours, before the skins are removed. Rosé wines can vary in sweetness and range from bone dry to exceptionally sweet. They display a medley of flavours, including hints of strawberry, cherry, and other red fruits. They are traditionally enjoyed chilled and are often considered a refreshing summer wine, although they can be enjoyed year-round.
Montalto’s much-loved Rosé range saw another exquisite addition in 2022. The inaugural introduction of the Estate Rosé means we now offer three wines in our Rosé collection. Each displays summer flavours and textures traditionally associated with Rosé before taking a step into the unknown, delivering orchestras of unparalleled tannins and aromas, invigorating the definition of the wine.
Montalto’s Rosés express the unique terroir and cool marine climate of the Mornington Peninsula, being blended with 100% Pinot Noir fruit from our Red Hill and Tuerong vineyards. Our intense bouquets dance on your palate, delivering notes such as wild strawberry, honeydew, peach, citrus peel, talc and rose petal, accompanied by savoury sensations of spice and fennel, resulting in wines which are captivating, distinctive and out of the ordinary.
