Montalto’s olive oil story began in 1999, when over 1,000 trees were planted by the Mitchell family – including varieties from Spain, Italy and Greece, chosen for both oil and table fruit. Today, these trees thrive across the estate, carefully hand-pruned and dry-farmed, producing olives that reflect the same sustainable philosophy as our vines. The result is a collection of estate-grown extra virgin olive oils – pure, aromatic and full of character – that bring a taste of the Mornington Peninsula into your kitchen.
Montalto Olive Oils are crafted to capture freshness, flavour and versatility:
Limited Release Extra Virgin Olive Oil – vibrant, grassy and peppery, with a silky texture and lingering finish. A true expression of our estate-grown olives.
Basil Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil – estate oil infused with fresh basil; aromatic, herbal and perfect for salads, grilled vegetables and pasta.
Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil – citrus-bright and fragrant; ideal for seafood, chicken, seasonal greens and summer dishes.
Each oil is made to the exacting standards established when we first began pressing and infusing oils nearly two decades ago.
Montalto Limited Release Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our premium oil, cold-pressed and extra virgin from the first pressing. Made from a carefully selected blend of Koroneiki, Correggiola and Frantoio olives grown on the estate, it is rich, buttery and soft, with a fresh grassiness. Perfect served with crusty bread, as a salad dressing with balsamic vinegar, or drizzled over hot soup. 375ml bottle.
Montalto Basil Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Cold-pressed and extra virgin, this oil is pressed with fresh basil leaves, releasing both the oils and aromas of the herb. Fresh, grassy and intensely aromatic, it elevates Italian-inspired dishes: try it with buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes, drizzled over minestrone soup or pasta just before serving, or brushed onto bruschetta. 375ml bottle.
Montalto Lemon Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Cold-pressed and extra virgin, this oil is pressed with whole lemons, capturing both the oils from the skin and the juice for a full citrus expression. Zesty, vibrant and unmistakably lemony, it’s ideal for bread-dipping, zippy salad dressings, or marinating fish and seafood. 375ml bottle.
When the Montalto estate was first established, olives were planted not as traditional groves, but as living borders and boundaries around vineyards, orchards and gardens. Inspired by European traditions and guided by family and friends, the Mitchells experimented with pressing and infusing oils. By 2003 the first estate-grown olives were served at Montalto, and by 2005 our olive oil had become a permanent part of our estate offering.
Today, we still grow, hand-select and harvest every olive from our property. The best fruit is pressed into extra virgin oil or infused with flavours like basil and lemon, creating premium oils that are unique to Montalto.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil – finish grilled meats, drizzle over fresh pasta or serve simply with bread and sea salt.
Basil Infused Olive Oil – toss through Caprese salads, spoon over pizza or brush onto roast chicken.
Lemon Infused Olive Oil – ideal with seafood, asparagus, leafy greens or as a base for dressings.
Store in a cool, dark place and use generously to enjoy full freshness and flavour.
