Pinot Gris is one of the most expressive white varieties, shaped by vineyard site and winemaking style. On the Mornington Peninsula, the maritime climate and diverse soils bring a distinctive edge to Montalto Pinot Gris - wines that balance richness and texture with aromatic freshness. From our vineyards in Tuerong and Red Hill, Pinot Gris takes on new layers of complexity while remaining refreshingly food-friendly.
Montalto Pinot Gris is known for its aromatic intensity and textural depth:
· Fruit spectrum - Nashi pear, baked apple, stone fruits, lychee, citrus rind.
· Spice & floral lift - cinnamon, star anise, white florals, talc.
· Texture - rich and oily yet refined, with saline minerality, almond and cashew notes, lifted by bright natural acidity.
The result is a Pinot Gris that is expressive, layered and distinctly cool-climate in style.
Montalto Pinot Gris 2024
Highly expressive, showing baked Nashi pear, ripe stone fruits, lychee, orange blossom and star anise on the nose. The palate layers baked pear and apple with lime rind, cinnamon spice, almond, cashew and a subtle saline edge. Concentrated yet fresh, this is a Pinot Gris of refinement and complexity.
Montalto Pennon Hill Pinot Gris 2024
Sourced 90% from Tuerong and 10% from our Red Hill Vineyard, this wine highlights subregional character. Aromas of Nashi pear, green apple, talc, beeswax and sherbet lead into a textural palate of green apple, lemon, ground spice, limestone and saltbush. Vibrant, crisp and varietally true, it’s an approachable yet layered style.
Montalto Pinot Gris is frequently recognised for its combination of aromatic purity, textural weight and cool-climate freshness. These qualities place our Gris among the most distinctive examples from Victoria and across Australia.
