While the peak party months and school holidays might be over, and the year might have officially begun, there’s still very much a holiday vibe on the Peninsula. Things are a little bit quieter in February (well, at least mid-week) making it a more peaceful time to visit – especially for our Twilight sessions every Saturday.
Pro tip after lunch in The Restaurant or The Piazza: take a right out of our driveway and head all the way down Boundary Road for a swim at Dromana Beach and watch the sunset before heading back to the city. Just… lovely.
Had enough bubbles over Christmas and New Year and ready to turn your attention something more textural? Maybe some Rosé? Us too. We’ve got you covered with our picks for perfect February drinking.
Montalto Fumé Blanc
A team favourite, this wine is interesting and complex but still fresh and refined. The usual tropical fruits of Sauvignon Blanc but blackberry too, and more texture. If you’re looking to challenge your Sauvignon Blanc drinking palate, then this is the wine for you.
Pennon Hill Rosé
Need we go on? Absolutely delicious, seasonally on point and totally smashable yet so well made and such good value. We present to you: our Pennon Hill Rosé.
Montalto Tuerong Chardonnay
One of two of our Single Vineyard Chardonnays, our Tuerong Vineyard is ‘down the hill’ and therefore a little warmer than it’s brother ‘The Eleven’ which hails from ‘up the hill’ in Red Hill. The result is a more generous chardonnay, more stone fruit than grapefruit, and more weight and generosity than The Eleven’s power and leanness. Delicious and moreish.
Montalto Gin Batch Three is proving to be the drink of the summer!
Distilled in collaboration with Bass & Flinders; raspberry, orange and hibiscus rosella from our home estate create a bright lifted fruit infused gin where the raspberry plays off floral notes aromatically, and citrus tones on the palate create a perfectly refreshing accompaniment.
Montalto Gin Batch Three is now available to enjoy onsite in The Piazza, The Restaurant and in The Cellar Door. A limited number of bottles are available to purchase both from The Cellar Door and online.

Summer is still here for another month!
Here's all the information about how you can spend the perfect summer's day at Montalto.
Warm nights and hot days have helped our hops vines to flower, producing large quantities of aromatic cones that will be enjoyed by our chefs in many dishes. Blackberries are now being harvested daily and our tomatoes and zucchinis don’t seem to show any signs of slowing up!
On really hot days, we harvest our heirloom salad mix under our sprinklers and look forward to slightly cooler days ahead!
Julie Bennett, Produce Manager
Wild blackberries are in abundance - these pesky weeds certainly do have the sweetest fruits! Blackberries and cream are a match made in heaven so expect to see them on the menu with a beautiful homemade ice-cream and something crunchy to balance their perfect ripeness.
Michael Clancey, Head Chef, The Restaurant
The endless summer continues in The Piazza, especially during our Twilight sessions on Saturdays. Come past after a day at the beach and enjoy the afternoon as it turns into evening overlooking the vines from The Piazza alongside Wendy’s Garden.
My top picks would be to start with our kingfish crudo with pickled cucumber, crème fraîche and chives followed by our prawn pizza – local prawns, estate-grown zucchini, estate-grown cherry tomatoes and lemon. The perfect side? Our estate-grown garden leaves which we’re serving with estate-grown raspberry vinaigrette.
Bowie Chan, Head Chef, The Piazza
Our dedicated Lawn Bar will be open throughout summer (weather depending), serving drinks and snacks to enjoy on the lush lawn overlooking the vines.
