This wine is right up there with the great vintages of 2012 and 2016. Our Chardonnay is a fan- favourite that will sell out. A single vineyard wine built on a core of citrus and stone fruits with mouth quenching acidity and creamy texture. "A single vineyard wine made from our home vineyard in Red Hill South. Comprised of 59% North Face block (clone P58) and 41% South Face block (clone I10V1). Our Estate Chardonnay is built on a core of citrus fruit together stone fruits of nectarine and white peach. After some challenging weather events in late spring, impacting yields, the weather Gods provided perfect conditions leading into harvest. Slate and flint, lemon curd, crème brulee, lime splice, roasted hazelnuts, white florals, a lick of sulphides all chime in to play their part. The influence of spicy French oak compliments the generous fruit profile which is tied together with bright and energetic naturally acidity and a textural, creamy finish.” -Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.
Unmistakable Montalto Pinot Noir from an exceptional vintage, drenched in red fruits, with wonderful aromatics on a polished framework. “Classically red-fruited, raspberry, cherry, and cranberry combine with blood orange, rose petal, spice, earth, pink peppercorn, fresh herbs, forest floor, and some oak-inspired coffee grind notes, making for a wonderfully aromatic and complex aroma profile. A core of quenching juicy red fruit gives way to a savoury line showing just a subtle character of cured meat or charcuterie. There’s minerality in this wine too and a fine polished tannin, which carries the length of the palate. Moreish acidity gives purpose, brightness, and a long expressive finish.” -Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.
What we lacked in yields, from the tiny 2022 vintage, we have made up in spades in the quality stakes. With only 135 dozen produced, you’ll need to be quick to avoid missing out on this special Mornington Syrah. “Our 2022 Montalto Syrah hails exclusively from our warmer Tuerong vineyards. Mulberry, blackberry, blueberry and even raspberries mesh with olive tapenade, smoked charcuterie and nuances of spice by way of peppercorn and clove. There’s a faint whiff of bay leaf and rosemary for good measure. Upfront, a core of quenching blue and red fruit, together with Black-forest cake, black cherry and plum pudding, framed by silken fine tannins finishing with a savoury and chalky twist.” -Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.
