We are delighted to share the news of our outstanding results at the 2024 Mornington Peninsula Wine Show:
The Mornington Peninsula Wine Show's Best Sparkling Wine award recognises the region's top sparkling wine of the year. Wineries submit their sparkling wines for evaluation, and a panel of judges assesses them based on criteria such as aroma, flavour, balance, and overall quality. The award highlights the excellence and diversity of sparkling wines produced in the Mornington Peninsula.
The Mornington Peninsula Wine Show's Pinot Noir Provenance Award honours wineries that demonstrate consistent excellence in Pinot Noir production across multiple vintages. To be eligible, wineries submit three distinct vintages of the same Pinot Noir, allowing judges to assess the wine's quality, vineyard character, and winemaking style over time. This award highlights the Montalto’s ability to produce high-quality Pinot Noir consistently, reflecting the unique terroir of the Mornington Peninsula region.
“A nose of dark cherry and Black Dorris plum combine with blueberry, bramble and crushed sage along with some oak-inspired coffee grind notes. On the palate the wine displays more red fruits than the nose suggests- think red cherry, raspberry and blueberry. Bright and fresh, yet silky and structured with present, integrated tannin. The long finish leaves a lingering hint of Negroni and blood orange.”

“2022 was a wonderful vintage for Syrah. Blueberries, Kirsch, and blackberry meld with a medley of fresh spices including star anise, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. A playful wet-stone minerality adds further interest alongside some citrus and olive tapenade aromas. On the palate, generous dark cherry fruit fuses with bitter dark chocolate. The palate is seamless with chalk-like tannins and a cooling acid line giving the impression of reserved power."
