Learn all the secrets on how to grow your own raspberries at home during this hands on workshop in our large, netted raspberry patch

Time: 8.45am – 12.00pm

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to:

Prepare to plant a raspberry patch

Use different trellising techniques

Identify pests and diseases and how best to remedy them

Prune and maintain raspberry plants for maximum yield, vigour and health

We’ll supply:

Secateurs

Safety glasses

You’ll need to bring:

Gardening gloves

Waterproof footwear or gumboots

Raincoat

A sense of adventure

Join Julie as she shares over 20 years of experience, in-depth knowledge and passion for gardening and permaculture - an unmissable opportunity for keen gardeners of all ages and skill levels.

Workshop Schedule

8.45am Warm up with a tea or coffee, along with a morning snack, as Julie welcomes the group.

9.00am A quick walk to our large, netted raspberry patch where you’ll learn:

how to identify last and next seasons fruiting canes

the different trellising methods for your space

how to identify any pests and diseases

Julie will demonstrate the how, when and why’s of pruning and trellising raspberry canes before you’ll be given a pair of secateurs, safety glasses and an opportunity to prune the Montalto estate raspberry plants yourself.

12.00pm Official proceedings conclude, however you are welcome to stay and enjoy lunch in The Piazza or The Restaurant (ensure you make a reservation to avoid disappointment on the day!) or feel free to pop into The Cellar Door to taste or purchase any of our award-winning wines.
