Mornington Peninsula
Tempranillo is the premium red wine grape variety hailing from the Rioja region in Spain. It is also grown in many other regions of Spain. The grapes for the 2022 Pennon Hill Tempranillo are sourced from a warmer vineyard site in Merricks North.
A single vineyard wine, deep crimson red in colour. This is a generous offering exhibiting plum and morello cherry fruit with complexing coffee and chocolate aromas. There’s a rustic earthiness, plentiful ripe structural tannins, and some mineral and ferrous notes. Dried herbs and tobacco add depth to the palate, while refreshing acidity contributes to a long and expressive savoury finish.
