‘’Quartz colour with green hues with a core of ripe grapefruit, white nectarine, and a hint of citrus zing. There are also some white florals here in the Star Jasmine realm complemented by a little talc and a savoury hint of chicken stock on the finish. This is a wine of breadth, weight and generosity. Whilst it’s a chardonnay in the classic Montalto style, the phenolic framework sets this wine apart from its stablemate ‘The Eleven’.''

Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.

REVIEWS

‘’This is of those wines you pour, sip and think, ah that’s good. Very good indeed. Flavours ebb and flow between citrus and ripe white peach with wafts of ginger flower and a delicious lemon saline character. It feels rich and voluptuous as the palate builds with the right amount of texture with a smidge of lees and spicy oak. Not too big so it remains stylish and spot-on.‘’ Score 95/100.

Jane Faulkner, 2025 Halliday Wine Companion.

"Wonderful chardonnay. Straight and direct but with flavour and texture. White peach, apple, green pineapple, citrus and cedar. Lengthy, mouthwatering and more-ish. Suggestions of florals and tonic-like herbs, even. All the chardonnay things, running free, impressing.” Score 95/100.

Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

"The best Chardonnay on the Mornington Peninsula? Gee, it would be on the podium, that's for sure. This Tuerong from Montalto just keeps dishing up the goods time and again. Go here and indulge in the magic... damn, this is epic and I just want more and more.” Score 96/100

WINEMAKING NOTES

Whole bunch pressing is utilised. No SO2 is added until bottling, consequently there is
oxidative juice handling throughout the vinification period. A considered amount of
solids is maintained in the ferment. After whole bunch pressing, the juice is transferred
to French oak barriques (28.6% new). Following wild fermentation, natural malolactic
fermentation brings the natural acidity into balance and the wine is then left to mature
on lees, which are stirred when appropriate following appraisal. The wine is aged for
11 months in oak prior to blending and bottling in February 2023.
