The Montalto Sculpture Prize 2021 is an acquisitive sculpture prize and is among the most valuable private sculpture prizes in Australia. 2021 is our 19th annual Exhibition and Prize!
Our first exhibition was in 2003, with 17 finalist artists competing for an $8,000 prize. From 2003, through to 2020, we have exhibited 468 entries and awarded over $410,000 in prize money.
Open daily from 11 am – 5 pm, the permanent collection on our Sculpture Trail now consists of 33 sculptures and is one of the most visited attractions on the Mornington Peninsula. Sculpture is an integral part of life at Montalto and a highlight of any visit to the estate. The Montalto Vineyard Sculpture Trail winds its way through the property and the beautiful natural gallery provides diverse settings for the pieces. You might find monumental works sited in open spaces through to more intimate pieces amongst the wetlands and vines. “I am honoured to have my work join the Montalto collection and also fortunate to have been given the perfect environment of undergrowth and trees, in a surprising kink in the sculpture trail, that encourages the sense of discovery for a work that is all about the archaeology of our recent history and what it means to be human. This work was a folly of good humour, a 10 foot broken dinner plate. I love the absurdity of it but more, the chance to reflect on our failure to embrace the inevitable failings and decline that besets us.
