Mornington Peninsula
"2023 was a sublime vintage for Syrah. Blueberries, raspberries, and rhubarb meld with a medley of aromas including violets, liquorice, charcuterie together with a trove of spices. Fresh forest fruits are the foundation with Intensity and power the hallmark qualities. Generously fruited with beautifully ripe skin tannins, the palate is seamless giving the impression of reserved power."
Simon Black, Chief Winemaker.
REVIEWS
"I had lunch with the folks at Montalto earlier this week and I was too sheepish to admit that I’ve bought more Mornington shiraz/syrah over the years than I have Mornington pinot noir. Which isn’t a reflection on the quality of Mornington pinot noir; it’s just that when Mornington gets shiraz right, the region really gets it right, to my taste preferences. If I’d been really brave I would have said that Mornington shiraz/syrah is the more inherently complex drink.
They’ve got a great operation going on down there. Great crew. Wines, immaculate.
"Wild and alive and I love it. Introducing this fabulous Single Vineyard Syrah from Montalto which is the best release I have seen of this to date… Drinking well now, it will age gracefully should you have the patience to do so.”
