Inside Out at Montalto: "Sightless Selfie" workshop with Vipoo Srivilasa [SOLD OUT]

Inside Out is a year-long program that invites you to shift your experience of the Potter by exploring the artistic opportunities that exist both inside and outside of our galleries. The Potter is taking Inside Out to the Mornington Peninsula – because what better way to encourage dialogue and debate than through art, wine and an idyllic setting. Their intention? To give you the opportunity to engage with art and ideas outside of the usual context of the gallery space.
This spring, you’ll have the chance to celebrate food, wine and art via two unique hand-on workshops held at Montalto in Red Hill. The workshops will begin with sparkling rosé in the garden and finish with a relaxed shared lunch in Montalto’s Piazza, overlooking the estate’s impressive sculpture trail and vines.

Thai born, Melbourne-based artist, curator and arts activist Vipoo Srivilasa works predominantly in ceramics, and but also produces works on paper, mixed media and bronze sculptures. Srivilasa’s practice explores the similarities between the cultures of his native home, Thailand and his adoptive home, Australia as well as exploring cultural shifts and migration experiences. In addition to exhibiting his work, Srivilasa actively initiates and organises collaborative projects.
Collaboration has been an important part of Srivilasa’s creative practice, he has been using clay to engage communities into his creating process in the past ten years.
Srivilasa’s work has been exhibited in major art institutes around the world including Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe; Saatchi Gallery, London; L’Alcora Ceramics Museum, Spain; Henan Museum, China; National Art Gallery, Thailand; Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art; Australia and National Art Gallery of Australia.

He has received numerous awards, most notably are the 2016 National Sports Museum Basil Sellers Creative Arts Fellowship and Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award 2017. Srivilasa’s work is held in public collections both national and international including The National Gallery of Australia; Clayarch Gimhae Museum, Korea; Henan Museum, China and London Craft Council, United Kingdom.
