Provenance Award for Pinot Noir - Mornington Peninsula Wine Show
On Monday this week, we were awarded the Provenance Award for Pinot Noir at the Mornington Peninsula Wine Show. Anthony Jones, Director of Wine at Montalto, was delighted in the team effort:
"Comprised of a tasting of three wines, this is the pinnacle Trophy at the MP Wine Show, which recognises consistent quality across six vintages. This trophy is the one that the team strive to achieve. It's such a thrill to win this award."
"It’s been a long year devoid of many pleasures (and wine shows). So it is good to bag a couple of trophies at the Mornington Peninsula Wine Show, including Pinot Noir Provenance Award & Trophy for our Shiraz, for the second year in a row (red varietal, or, blend). We also had a couple of sneaky Golds for our 2019 Pennon Hill Chardonnay and our 2019 Single Vineyard Tuerong Block Chardonnay. Immensely grateful to, and proud of, our team in the winery and vineyard of Hannah, Dan and Cam!"
The Mitchell family have been vignerons in Red Hill since 1999, with our Montalto wines reflecting balanced vine physiology and meticulous attention to detail across our up-hill and down-hill vineyards.
Since the 2014 Mornington Peninsula Wine Show we have been awarded an enviable 30 Gold Medals and 12 Trophies. Including the Provenance Award for Chardonnay three times - in 2014, 2016 & 2018, and the Provenance Award for Pinot Noir three times - in 2015, 2018 and now 2020.
Winemaker Simon Black and our award-winning winemaking team develop wines for three labels from vineyards across the Mornington Peninsula. Their focus is to create wines of exemplary quality and character, utilising winemaking techniques that complement the unique qualities derived from our vineyards, in a style that reflects each vineyard site.
