Welcome to autumn! Unmistakable changes have already started to appear across the estate as we look towards the cooler months. Soon the greens will turn to gold and our focus will be on harvesting nourishing seasonal produce from our gardens.
If you haven’t checked out our harvest calendar lately, take a look at what you can expect to see on our menus throughout the year HERE
Leaving the wineries of the Yarra Valley after 15 years for a sea change to the Peninsula, Glen arrived at Montalto in April 2017 with decades of hospitality experience under his belt, as well as a deep love for all things Australian wine.
Glen’s multifaceted role sees him working to ensure the smooth running of The Piazza at Montalto, along with Tucks (located right next door). When he’s not carefully overseeing customer experience, whilst closely managing his ever-growing team, Glen works to ensure the grounds across the estate are kept picture perfect at all times. Just as at home working through busy service periods in The Piazza as he is on a ride-on mower, Glen’s keen eye for detail sees his dedication for perfection reflected in everything he does.
When he’s not at Montalto, Glen likes to walk. And we’re not talking a casual stroll either. Glen has completed the 100km Oxfam Trailwalker, as well as the Kokoda Track, with more grand plans underway for the future.
“I love March - the crazy summer period has come to a close, as have our Twilight sessions, but with a bit of warmth in the air, the weekends are still busy and Easter planning well and truly underway!”
In between the hustle and bustle, I try and get behind the BBQ at home as much as possible. And there’s no better red to accompany a BBQ than Simon’s Pennon Hill Tempranillo. It goes perfectly with anything that has been cooked over flames – from produce to protein.
This is my absolute go-to after a busy day in The Piazza. With beautiful citrus flavours and a savoury finish, it’s the perfect way to end the day… and start the night.
With the weather still on the warmer side, I enjoy this wine unwinding on the deck at home watching the autumnal colours come through in the surrounding gardens.
Never run out of your favourite Montalto wine again. Our fully customisable wine club offers incredible benefits both onsite at Montalto, and online.
