This vintage marks the last time we made this wine and is a vintage that our winemaker, Simon Black, regards as “quite possibly our best ever Chardonnay vintage”. We’ve lovingly held onto a tiny amount of this wine in our museum to offer to our wine club members. A wonderful piece of Montalto history.
“Generous and gorgeously complex nose. White flowers, lime leaf, lemon curd, sherbet, cashew. Beautiful balance with primary fruit brightness. A fraction riper than ‘The Eleven’ (2012) with more stone fruits and less citrus and floral. Starting to show its full potential. This has great drive and structure. A long future.” Anthony Jones, Montalto Director of Wine, library tasting in 2016

“Notably complex, in terms of both structure and flavours, very much reflecting its winemaking approach; there is more white peach and nectarine fruit, and a fine-grained texture. Relies in part on its finesse.”
