For just the second time in our 15 year history, Montalto is headed to Melbourne.
Join us for Montalto in Town from Thursday 26th October through to Saturday 28th October at Canvas House – a warm and welcoming warehouse space with exposed brick walls and soaring ceilings in South Melbourne.
Montalto in Town will showcase dishes from chef Gerard Phelan’s new menu, created for the new Montalto Restaurant, set to reopen and relaunch in early November.
Enjoy a dinner of five courses, each matched to carefully selected Montalto wines for $150, all inclusive.
On the plate, the focus will be on estate-grown produce. Having expanded Montalto’s working kitchen garden to three acres, Gerard Phelan, Montalto head chef, says:
“The expansion gives me access to an abundance of produce which I can trust and therefore my focus can be on taking it to new levels and finding new ways of using it. I want new flavour in every dish. There are European influences because that’s my background but I don’t want to get bogged down in any one regional style. There’s an element of innovation but you’ll always recognise what’s on the plate. Our guests at Montalto in Town, like guests at our new Montalto Restaurant, can expect fine dining and innovative but recognisable food that is absolutely produce driven. We just want to turn the flavour up to 11.” (Gerard fronted a metal band before he became a chef.)
In the glass, Montalto wines have been chosen by Luke Gooley, Food & Beverage Manager to complement each course and for their clear and evocative expression of origin, fruit, site and vintage.
Though still new, Montalto in Town is already one of our favourite events and we look forward to seeing you there!
