The “road trip” begins in the winery, where a member of our award-winning winemaking team will guide you through a barrel tasting of current vintage wines while explaining how each was made. Then, armed with a selection of Montalto provisions for the journey, it is time for a picturesque road-trip of Peninsula microclimates. You will experience first-hand the ‘sense of place’ that characterises our Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs. Visiting our vineyards at Tuerong, Merricks and Main Ridge, you will see the soil, touch the vines, and taste the finished wines from each site.
After gaining a true appreciation for the diversity of each location and its expression in the glass, you will head to Montalto for a six-course degustation lunch with matched wine while taking in stunning views across the home vineyard in Red Hill. A passion for seasonal, locally grown produce has seen Montalto kitchen gardens expand to almost four acres in recent years and dining with us is an experience not to be forgotten; a moment out of the ordinary. Central to the kitchen is fire, with a wood fire grill allowing the best of ingredients to sing. The abundant seasonal produce of the Montalto property is given top billing, and locally sourced meats, fish and fowl showcase the very best the region has to offer.
After lunch, take your time to explore the contemporary sculpture collection set amongst natural wetlands, the produce gardens and vineyards of the estate, home to the famous Montalto Sculpture Prize, among the most valuable private sculpture prizes in Australia.
Finally, take a lasting memory home with you of the vineyards you visited, and the wines you tasted, with a six-bottle collection of our Single Vineyard wines to add to your cellar or gift to your friends.
