2010 Pennon Hill Melange Blanc
Our Pennon Hill wines display true varietal character and sub regional quality, designed for immediate consumption with hints of cellaring potential.
This wine has been crafted from aromatic varieties including Pinot Gris, Riesling and White Muscat.
- Pinot Gris – (65%) – providing oily palate richness with pear flavours
- Riesling – (25%) – providing palate length through crisp acidity, minerality and citrus flavours
- White Muscat – (10%) – providing lifted aromatics of floral and musk
Vineyard
These varieties were sourced from three of our vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula. The cool climate of the Peninsula allows for a longer ripening period giving the vine the capability to gain higher acid levels while developing a stronger fruit profile. Having the ability to source fruit from small parcels allows for greater control over picking times, ripeness levels and overall the final product.

Vintage
After a dream growing season with even temperatures and no heat spikes, like what we saw in 2009, all varieties were harvested in early March in ideal conditions – before the onset of mid vintage rains. The cool, steady vintage has resulted in delicate, balanced flavours, with fine natural acidity.
Winemaking
Fermentation was in stainless steel at low temperatures to encourage intense aromatic influence from each of the varietals within the blend. The varieties were fermented and individual parcels before bench trials to determine the final blend.
